Jay Fisette is an American politician who served as a member of the Arlington County Board from 1998 to 2018. He was born on November 17, 1956, in Connecticut and grew up in Indiana. Fisette attended Indiana University, where he received his bachelor's degree in business administration.
In 1983, Fisette moved to Arlington, Virginia, where he became involved in local politics, joining the Arlington County Democratic Committee. He worked as a grassroots organizer for various political campaigns before being elected to the Arlington County Board.
During his time on the Board, Fisette focused on issues such as transportation, affordable housing, and environmental sustainability. He also served as the Board's Chair four times during his tenure.
Fisette has received numerous awards and accolades for his work in politics and advocacy, including the Virginia Housing Coalition's Lifetime Achievement Award and the 2012 V. Kann Rasmussen Foundation Environmental Award. After leaving the County Board in 2018, he remained active in civic affairs and advocacy work.
